UNIVERSITY IN PADUA – THE CONTROL OF SCAPHOIDEUS TITANUS: THE EMPLOYMENT OF PREVISIONAL METHODS

The fight against Scaphoideus titanus, vector of the grapevine phytoplasma disease flavescence dorée, requires precise knowledges on the phenology of species. Recent investigations developed in Veneto have allowed to establish that the fenologia of the species suffers meaningful variations both among different sites and years within the same site. Such variations can negatively engrave in the definition of plans of fight against the vector in the ample and diversified districts. At the same time, the Directive 128/2009 imposes the adoption of tools of support to the decisions concerning the control of the adversities of the crops.
Recently, a model of forecast of the fenologia of S titanus has been conceived by a Swiss Company (Dolphin Engineering). The model has been verified in Switzerland and subsequently in some places of Veneto with encouraging results. The research in object aims a further evaluation on the correspondence between the data of the model and the real data in a management of a biological firm situated in the province of Treviso.
